SEWERS MUSEUM

IDENTITY DESIGN

An identity design project for Sewers Museum in Paris. The Sewers Museum showcases the history of sewers, its significance, and engineering. The logo was designed to represent the physical and historical depth of the sewers and how the sewers support the ground, and quite literally, the life of Paris.

INHERENT VICE

IDENTITY, MOTION, ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN

Inherent Vice, the 2022 RISD Museum exhibit, aims to make the behind-the-scenes of the museum more accessible to the public by displaying a series of damaged gowns from America’s Gilded Age (1870s–1910s) soon to be deaccessioned. The exhibit also showcased apparel students' work who took the course named after the exhibit and engaged with the gowns by creatively responding to the prompt “hidden stories.”

INVENTORY OF INTERFACES

IDENTITY DESIGN, ART DIRECTION

Inventory of interfaces is a clothing brand that converts UI components into wearable textiles. The flexibility of the fabric allows distortion of components that we access everyday only though touching the flat screens.

MOLECULAR DEFENCE

MOTION DESIGN, INSTALLATION

An interactive installation portraying information and data as an ideal, autonomous entity, a living molecule, where data autonomously detects a potential threat to its security, the audience entering the installation, and protects itself by retracting and disguising.

VISIBLE LETTERFORMS

TYPEFACE, PRINT DESIGN

"Visible Lettforms" is a series of font designs that challenges Crystal Goblet, a modern ideal in typography that is deeply rooted in graphic design, and it seeks expressive letterforms by subverting the existing typefaces.

More coming soon. ✨

ATLAS

PUBLICATION, PRINT DESIGN

At the beginning of RISD Graphic Design's MFA program, every class designs a collaborative publication called “Atlas”. Each of us explore Providence through "12 labors" as a design brief, and we each draw the answer to where we are from and who we are. For "Atlas," I reflected on my identity as a Third Culture Kid* by metaphorically leaping into outer space and compare myself to Pluto.

MOTO 360 CAMERA MOD

UX, INTERACTION DESIGN

Upon joining Motorola, I led the UX design for Moto 360 Camera Mod, the modular 360-degree camera for Motorola's smartphones. The goals were to enable users to easily set up the viewfinder and seamlessly navigate between the regular camera and 360 camera features within the same native application. It won the 2018 Red Dot Award.

UX, THE BELOVED BUT MISTREATED TERMS

PRINT DESIGN

A book design to criticize the current usage of the term, “UX (User Experience)” by reflecting on what Don Norman meant when he first coined the term.

SENSING FASHION

IDENTITY, MOTION, ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN

Sensing Fashion, the 2023 exhibition at RISD Museum, asks: What happens when a garment designed to be worn enters a museum as a crisp, new envelope without the storytelling potential of wear and tear? Second-hand clothes donated by RISD textiles alum as design resources and their textures were observed with a microscopic camera. The resulting investigations are projected on the gallery walls for an immersive and intimate experience with the textiles.
